In a bid to engage the wider community in environmental conservation, SEPA has undertaken a remarkable project at Mbelei Street in Bumbuli District. SEPA established a nursery for avocado and wildnut trees. A total of 560 avocado saplings and 420 nut tree saplings have been carefully nurtured, with 550 avocado and 400 nut trees already planted in various places including schools, religious institutions, and individual persons.
The impact on the community is profound. Beyond the environmental benefits of increased tree cover, which contributes to carbon sequestration, soil preservation, and reduced land degradation due to the longevity lifespan of the fruit trees. Both trees offer nutritious benefits and income generation through the sales of the yieldings or from the sales of the processed products.
SEPA’s dedication to the success of this initiative is evident in the great care provided to the nursery. From seed selection to nurturing and ensuring optimal growing conditions, SEPA has demonstrated a commitment to delivering high-quality seedlings. The community stands to benefit not only from a greener environment but also economically, as the fruit-bearing trees become a valuable asset.
As the nursery project reaches its culmination, SEPA celebrates not just the growth of 980 trees but the positive impact it will have in Bumbuli and beyond. This endeavor showcases the practical and tangible results achievable through collaborative efforts in environmental stewardship.
